Hillbilly Elegy (2020) Review

Hillbilly Elegy is a self-titled book from JD Vance. It’s a true story about a family that grew up on the Ohio Kentucky border portrayed living a hillbilly lifestyle. I believe Ron Howard did a beautiful job directing the film and Glenn Close, Amy Adams and Gabriel Basso did a phenomenal job acting as the lead character in JD Vance’s novel. I want to say that the acting was phenomenal. In the movie Gabriel Basso made you feel that you were watching the person in true life. I want to say that the overall movie was very, very well done. I highly recommend you see it. It’s about him growing up and his mother is addicted to drugs. He is trying to make something of himself but all the odds are against him. Make sure you stay to the end of this movie as you see the credits. You’ll see the actual people that Glenn Close and Amy Adams portray and I’ll tell you they almost look exactly like the real people. The makeup job that they did was phenomenal. I think Glenn Close and Amy Adams who play both the mother and the grandmother did phenomenally well. Ron Howard always knocks it out of the park in any movie he directs. I give it a good strong three to three and a half stars. It was very enjoyable. Running time is 1 hour and 56 minutes.
