American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally (2021) Review

In American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally, her real name is Mildred Gillars who is played by Meadow Williams. She does a phenomenal job telling the story of this American woman who happened to be in Germany at the time that the Nazis were taking power and they wanted someone to push propaganda on American GI’s. She fit the bill and they used her to seductively get to the American men in the Armed Forces which she did do a very good job. She also got abused by the Nazis for her efforts. Basically she was a ping pong ball between what she was doing and what they were doing to her. After the war in the 60s, through the efforts of those trying to find all those who had anything to do with the Nazis, they found her and put her on trial and then you have the movie you’re about to see. I thought it was very well done. Great performances by Meadow Williams, Al Pacino, Thomas Kretschmann and Mitch Pileggi. As I watched the movie, part of me felt sorry for her and what she went through but again she knew what she was getting into and as the story will tell you she had her reasons for staying there and doing it. Really good story. I give it three stars. 107 minutes long
