The Duke (2022) Review

The Duke stars Helen Mirren, Jim Broadbent, Craig Conway and a few other actors. I have to say the movie was actually pretty good. It is set in 1961 and based on a true story about Kempton Bunton who was a taxi driver. At the time he stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. It was the first and remains the only theft in the gallery’s history and upon returning the painting and getting caught for doing it, the story unfolds and tells of what happened to him and his family. Like I said, I thought the movie was really good. I liked what it had to say and the story it told. It’s a nice history lesson as well as the acting was really good. Helen Mirren always does a phenomenal job. She played his wife but the overall casting as well as acting was really good. I give it three stars. It’s 96 minutes long.
