American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story (2021) Review

American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story is a true story about Kurt Warner the quarterback for the L.A. Rams and what he goes through to be a Hall of Fame quarterback. This tells you the story of what it took and what he went through to being the quarterback that he ended up being and what he had to go through to get to where he was. If there ever was a story of rags to riches person being in the down and outs and having to pull up the bootstraps to make something of yourself, and make people believe in you even when all odds are against you, this is it. Like the many films that you have seen such as Field of Dreams and other such movies, this is right up there with them. I believe this will be a movie that that will stand the test of time and the backstory to this movie is what really will get to you. When you find out the kind of man that Kurt Warner was and the things he had to go through to prove to people that he was worthy of a shot even when everything was against him is what makes this movie truly special. This is one of the best movies of the year. It will be nominated for one as such I would be not surprised if it did win best movie of the year unless something better comes along. It has a shot at doing so. I also feel Zachary Levi will get a shot at an Oscar for his performance. Anna Paquin did a phenomenal job as well as Dennis Quaid as his coach. Just a phenomenal cast of characters in this movie, great performances by all and really good directing. I can’t say enough about the movie. Bring your crying towel and plenty of tissues because this one definitely will tug at your heart with the story it tells. This is a four-star movie all the way. It’s an hour and 52 minutes. I highly recommend everyone go see this movie. This is not just a sports movie, it’s a movie about character and hard work and the payoff that can happen if you really believe in yourself.
