Moffie is a movie is set in 1981 in South Africa. It is based around the apartheid and gives you a look at a shy timid 18 year old gay young man in the Army. Kai Luke Brummer plays Nicholas Van Der Swart trying to find himself in an army where the Russians drill sergeant is running the men ragged. The movie shows you not only what it’s like to go through being gay but also what the men had to go through in their grueling training as well as what it’s like with the apartheid that is happening at that time. I thought it was a really good movie. I give it three stars. Running time is an hour and 44 minutes. This is an independent movie and wasn’t available at the main art theaters.
